For most of us, the idea of having to pay for medical care is a complete non-option. We have insurance that covers our premiums, but bills continue to pile up and these expenses are not always covered without traces. So, what do you do if you're one of the many people that don't have insurance or just can't afford these premiums? You turn to your friends and family, or maybe just your local library! At this point in human history, it has never been easier to find alternative solutions. If there's something out there that someone else needs more than you do, chances are good they'll be willing to donate it so long as they know it will be put into good use. The idea of setting up a library in the village of ilyasansar is not a novel one. The idea was brought up by the villagers themselves, and it took over 17 years to finally get off the ground. It started out as a small operation by a group of volunteers that collected leftover books from general requests from villagers. During this early stage, the books were sent no matter what condition they found them in for repair or re-donation. Things started to get better when one of the center's main sponsors, Saudi Ayaseen Foundation, donated newer books *where possible*. Another refurbished collection of books was later received from Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Education at its special school for non-Arabic speakers. Over the years, the library has dedicated itself more towards education, though there is still a small collection of medical textbooks. The main focus is on professional licenses and degrees. These books are particularly important for students who are studying to be professionals in fields like engineering, law, and medicine. The problem with this is that many of these students will not be able to access these books due to their low income. This is where you come in! And your money! The center needs new books for these students (and all the rest). At first, the center used to just accept any donations of books that came through the door, new or old. However, donations have tapered off in recent years. This has led to the center only being able to provide about 90% of what students are seeking. One of the main hurdles is getting students interested in donating their own books. There are many students who have already finished their education and don't need these books for future use. Their main complaint is that they can't be 100% sure where these books will end up once returned to them. There is also the problem of donated books being mixed up with other donations, or even the center not having the room to store them safely. To get students to donate their books, many of them are convinced that it will come in hand for them later on. They might say things like "I'm sure I'll need this book for my future", or "I can't believe I had this book for years!" or "This is one of my favorite childhood books! I used to read it all the time. cfa1e77820
